As a pastor I find that my responsibility is to extract the hype and waste of time of emotional theological rhetoric from my messages. People, especially African Americans, have been conditioned to sit in churches on Sunday for two hours to get absolutely nothing that is applicable to their real life condition. IS THIS WHAT CHRIST INTENDED? I DON'T THINK SO! I believe that the church fellowship should be relevant, prophetic, transparent and devoid of the Hollywood syndrome that surrounds many of our spiritual leaders. If we don't get something to use in life why go to church? After all, we are more than spirit; we are mind and body as well. A balanced ministry empowers and edifies all three aspects of a person's being. My philosophy is: IF MY CHURCH CAN'T CHANGE MY LIFE I MUST CHANGE MY CHURCH!
